Beechworth and the surrounding districts are home to a diverse range of people most of which have links to one or many community groups. These Beechworth community groups are the foundation of the local community. Social groups, sporting groups, youth groups and senior citizen groups are all found in Beechworth.

St Joseph's Primary School

St Joseph's Primary School BeechworthSt. Joseph’s has excellent, spacious indoor classroom facilities. The main building contains five classrooms, combined music and art room, library, internal toilets, office area and staffroom and storage areas.

Every classroom is well resourced with ample storage space, as well as up to six computers, enabling an effective teaching and learning environment. The school is fortunate to be situated on the same site as St. Joseph’s Parish Church, enabling a close link between the school and the Parish community.

Christ Church Beechworth

Christ Church BeechworthA pipe organ, built by the Melbourne organ builder, William Anderson, was installed in the church in 1887, believed to have been originally installed in St. George Roman Catholic Church in Carlton in 1882. It is a single manual organ of eight speaking stops, which retains its original action, console, pipework and case containing dummy wooden pipes. In recent years this organ has undergone significant restorations.

Christ Church, Beechworth is of historical significance due to its association with the early development of Beechworth. As an early church in the town, it is representative of the development which resulted from the gold rush of the early 1850s.

Beechworth Football ClubThe Beechworth Football Club, nicknamed the Bushrangers, is an Australian rules football club playing in the Tallangatta & District Football League. The Beechworth Football club was formed in 1861 and played in the original Ovens and Murray competition, which began in 1893. It had previously played against other mining areas such as Chiltern and Rutherglen.
