Here is some history on the location: The Everton to Beechworth railway line opened in 1876 and Baarmutha had its own station on the Lower Three Mile. The area was originally called Lee's Crossing but was renamed Baarmutha on 21st November 1904. It is interesting to note that during the 1920's two trains a day ran to the Beechworth Railway Station. The station closed on 30th June 1955.
The location of the Baarmutha Station sign is not the actual site of the station. It was actually moved from down the track towards Beechworth. There is actually a raised mound next to an old house which may have been the platform and opposite that there is an old post which may once have been a signal post.
The cache is a micro so LOG only and please bring your own PEN.
