Beechworth Resting Place - Geocaching Waypoint – Location

This cache can be found (hopefully) in ‘The Pioneer Section’ of the Beechworth Cemetery. The pioneer section is located at the rear of the current cemetery and is the burial site of around 145 early pioneers from the Beechworth district. They were relocated in August 1857 from the original Loch Street cemetery which now has buildings on it.

At this point your will find a rock memorial to commemorate the pioneers interned in the Loch Street cemetery between 1853 and1855. To get to the cache site you will need to park at the front gates and walk in. There is a self guided walk which is well worth the hour or so that it will take. The leaflet is available inside the front gate. There are a number of interesting grave sites including the Chinese Burning Towers.

This cache is located in a 200ml painted sistema container.

Co-ordinates: S 36° 20.672 E 146° 41.546
