This area is known as The Three Mile and spans from Buckland Gap Road to Diffey Road. At its peak the area had a population of 2,000, with a school, three hotels, six general stores and a collection of butchers and blacksmiths.

The area is locally known as Baarmutha (meaning ‘Place of many springs’) and during the 1860’s was also a well known location for miners wanting to watch bare knuckle boxing.
