Beechworth Gorge Drive

The Beechworth Gorge drive is a simple drive that every visitor to Beechworth should undertake. Also known as the tourist drive the road starts at the Sydney Road entrance and takes you through some of the regions most spectacular scenery. There are great views across the Woolshed Valley. cascades and boulders. Depending on th etime of day you may also encounter some of the local wildlife with wallabies, lace monitors and koala's all quick common.

You will also pass the historic Beechworth Powder Magazine and the full size repica Miners Hut that is now a private residence. The Gorge largely sealed with some unsealed sections (safe for two wheel drives) and sharp drops. The Gorge also makes fro a great walk with various other walks such as those to Woolshed Falls, Ingrams Rock, One Tree Hill and Fiddes Quarry all starting here. The walks are suitable for most levels of fitness with some undulating hills. The steps from the cascades down to the base can be challenging especially on the return climb. Take care on your walk and take plenty of water and a snack.
