Woolshed Falls near Beechworth

Woolshed Falls near BeechworthLocated in the Woolshed Valley only a 10 minute drive from Beechworth are the historic and impressive Woolshed Falls. More than 8000 miners and diggers once worked the banks of the river here being one of the richest goldfields in Victoria. To get to Woodshed Falls from Beechworth, head towards Wodonga, then take the Chiltern Road just past the 100km sign out of Beechworth. At the bottom of the winding road look for McFeeters Road and turn left. Continue along this road until it turns to gravel, then across the bridge. The turn to Woolshed Falls is on the right.

As you enter the Woolshed Falls carpark there is a observation deck on the top left side offering great views of the falls and the valley below. There is an excellent walk around the perimeter of woolshed falls that takes in some interesting features and mining diversions. For more information and a full guide visit our page on the Woolshed Falls walk.

If you plan to wander down to the waterfalls themselves then take special care as the rocks are uneven and can be slippery. After heavy rainfalls the water can be quit high and cover many familiar stepping stones. There is also a sharp fall into the valley below.

The scenery is impressive here and the rock pools are a great place to cool off during summer with some smaller cascades flowing from one rock pool to the next.
