Beechworth Fairy Tree

Beechworth Fairy TreeIn the grounds of Beechworth Primary School stands a large and aged Coast Redwood (Sequoia sempervirens). The species was introduced to Australia in the 1800s to supplement the logging industry in the development of early settlements and the Fairy Tree, as it is known locally, was most likely already in place when Beechworth Primary was erected in 1875.
