Beechworth holds great historical significance. In the mid to late nineteenth century, it was the site of many gold mining expeditions. You can still find records today of the biggest finds. January 12th, 2010

One of the great Community based projects currenty being undertaken is the Beechworth and District Community Bank Project. This project is effectively a franchise arrangement with the Bendigo Bank that will result in a full service bank being opened in Beechworth employing 4 - 5 people. And while the additional employment is always welcome the big ‘kick’ is that the the future Beechworth and District Community Bank will be returning 80% of the profits back into local community projects and community groups such as sports clubs, social groups, service organisations, churches, local infrastructure, emergency services and all other community based groups via grant applications.
