Delve into the hills and creeks surrounding Beechworth to unearth
the lost reef. During the gold rush of the 1850's Beechworth
was one of the biggest alluvial gold producing regions in Australia.
Today, while the volumes of gold have gone, there is still gold
and gems to be found. Be sure to get you licence from the Beechworth
Visitor Information Centre. They will also tell you where you
can try your hand at panning. On request tours can also be organised.
